Dinner Buffet at Baiyoke Sky Hotel: Things To Do in Bangkok, Thailand

The whole place is packed! People are coming and going. The food? It's okay. The romantic dinner atmosphere I look forward to crumbled before my eyes. I had such high expectations!

Dinner Buffet at Baiyoke Sky Hotel: Things To Do in Bangkok, Thailand

Baiyoke Sky Hotel is a skyscraper hotel that soars 88 stories above Bangkok's skyline. This is hard to miss because it is the tallest building in the city. Now, let's take you there.

Getting There

You can choose to take the sky train and alight at Ratchaprarop station. Since the hotel we stayed in, The Sukosol Hotel, is a stone's throw away from Baiyoke Sky we decided to take a taxi. The whole trip costs 100 THB back and forth including tip.

Commuter Tip

When taking a taxi, be sure to ask the taxi driver to turn the meter on. This way, they won't overcharge you. Don't take the tuk-tuk, they will ask you double. If you're fine with it, you can pay for the experience then.

The reason why I don't recommend taking the tuk-tuk is this. When we asked the tuk-tuk driver to take us back to our hotel after our dinner buffet at the Baiyoke Sky, he asked for 100 THB one way. That is our whole trip fare from Sukosol Hotel to Baiyoke Sky and vice versa! Nope, thank you.

There is a night market at the foot of the Baiyoke Sky Hotel -- the Pratunam night market. We weren't able to check it out because we need to be early the next day to Ayutthaya. Do so, if you have time.

The Baiyoke Sky Dining Options

The hotel lobby is located on the 18th floor but we went straight ahead to the 19th to have our reservation checked. In return, the receptionist gave us tickets to the restaurant. Let me warn you, this floor is pretty crowded. There are numerous groups of people coming and going.

Baiyoke Sky Buffet offers different dining options. They have
  • the Fruit Buffet on the 18th floor;
  • Baiyoke Floating Market on the 75th floor;
  • Bangkok Sky on 76&78th floors;
  • Lucky Caravan Buffet on 79th floor;
  • Stella Palace Restaurant on the 79th floor;
  • Bangkok Balcony (indoor) on the 81st floor;
  • Bangkok Balcony (premium) on the 81st floor;
  • Crystal Grill Restaurant on the 82nd floor;
  • and the Rooftop Bar and Music on the 83rd floor.

They are all priced differently. Choose which one you prefer. For our dinner buffet experience, we opted for the Bangkok Sky Dinner Buffet on 76&78th-floor. This costs us 800 THB each.

The view of the city at night is breathtaking!

Lunch opens from 11 am to 3pm and Dinner opens from 5:30 pm to 11:00 pm. You can make reservations here.

The Dinner Buffet Experience on the 78th Floor

Yay, dinnertime! You can choose from a variety of cuisines; there's Thai, Japanese, Western. You'll have to go around to check them out.

Oh, did I mention you'll have to wear semi-formal attire? No slippers and short shorts.

Buy white crop top and long skirt below.

As mentioned above, the food is okay, average at best. Nope, don't expect a romantic dinner atmosphere just like me, you'll only be disappointed. Remember, the Baiyoke Sky Hotel is a tourist spot. Expect a crowd!

The redeeming factor is the beautiful view of the city in the background. Oh, they have live entertainment going on as well while you're enjoying your meals.

The Revolving Roof Deck

After dinner, we took the elevator up to the revolving tower on the 84th floor. The view here is much better compared to where the restaurant is because there are no glass windows in between.

Here we are enjoying our time. :D

Look at that city view!

Info Regarding the Revolving Tower

I've read somewhere that the entrance to the Revolving Tower (which didn't revolve during our visit) is free to the public. I'm sorry, I can't confirm this. It's better not to risk it if you're a first time visitor, make your dinner buffet reservation with them. It comes with a free entrance to the observation deck and the revolving tower.
