The Sea of Galilee is also known as the Lake of Gennesaret, Lake Tiberias and Lake Kinneret in the Bible. It is a small lake fed by the river Jordan and lying about 180-meter below sea level. Violent storms sometimes rush down from the surrounding mountains causing very rough waters. Do check out my post: Israel Travel Itinerary for more tips and inspirations.
On our second day Israel tour, we headed to the Sea of Galilee for an awesome time of worship and sharing of the Word. Thank God the sun was out that day! At last, we could take pictures of the scenery with the beautiful blue skies in it. Woohoo!! It was indeed a beautiful morning when we did the boat ride experience at the Sea of Galilee.
Taking time to sink it in.
Here comes our boat!
The Sea of Galilee was so calm, so peaceful, so relaxing, so fascinating, so marvelous. It was a wonderful experience. I'm glad we went on this trip.
We stopped in the middle of the lake to take time to behold the grandeur of the scenery.
We are almost there.
Spiritual Significance
This is where Jesus rebuked the winds and the sea in Matthew 8:23-27, where He taught from Peter's boat in Luke 5:3 and where He walked on water in Mark 6:45-52.
The experience was a memorable boat ride in a traditional fishing boat designed to look like the boats of the first-century.
