"I don't think there are any more cottages available for rental at this time of the year. We could go next year and book as early as February." Is our friend's advice.
But we couldn't wait that long. We must go this year according to my husband. Never mind the 7-hour 30 minutes road trip from Ottawa, Ontario to Tobermory. Well, it's not like I drive anyway. I go with his flow. :)
The hubby thought, why don't we rent a campsite instead?
And so the story of how we rented a glamping pod at Tobermory Village Camp. Inside is a queen size bed. That's it. Though we didn't rent a campsite as was originally planned, we still have to bring our camping supplies.
I love this campground. It's privately owned. The washrooms are clean. Showers are available. Prices at the store are reasonable. And there are fun things to do inside the vicinity such as canoeing in the pond and pedal go-carting. Check out their amenities here.
The evenings are beautiful but quite eerie. How come? Because that pond in the photo above produces a thick fog at dark.
I couldn't help but associate it with the scene from the movie Sleepy Hollow, where a headless horseman comes out at night to seek revenge. Nah, that's just my over-the-top imagination at work again.
More stars could be observed from here too.
- Take a Boat Tour to Flowerpot Island
- Swim at The Grotto or the Halfway Log Dump. You need to book parking in advance for both places before coming. More info here.
If you run out of supplies, head downtown. Foodland is there. As well as restaurants, gift shops, and sweet treats. You'll have to pay for parking too. To commemorate our trip, I bought art. They remind me of the memories we made while we were there.
Not into camping? No worries. There are cottages and motels available for rent too but you have to book them early in the year before they're gone.
