This is not a book review. As mentioned from my outfit post last week: The Skimpy Solution, Gideon and I checked out Barnes & Noble two weekends ago to find something our minds can munch on. I'm not huge with novels.
Most of the books you'd find in our mini library are Christian, leadership, business & management books. This time, I've decided to venture for something different. Gideon got me: The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain & Second Chances by Max Lucado (because Christian books are awesome).
The Goal
I've made it my goal to read one book per week. Why is that so? Because I'm determined to continue growing, to stretch my imagination, and widen my vocabulary. If you've read me about me page, you'll know I've gone through fault-finding attacks because of the crappy grammar on my blog. Funny, but true. I don't deny it really.
"When people don't like you, they will ride on anything or anybody that's against you to pull you down."
But will you allow them? If you fall, pick yourself up and move on for the tide will only truly rise and fall. I thank them for their criticisms instead because it is through their 'constructive criticisms' that I strive to better myself. I'm not saying that you wait for someone to bully you for you to start improving yourself either. Definitely not! Do it for yourself instead.
"The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you." – B. B. King
That is definitely true. It is up to the thinking person to exercise the mind. In the world we live in, it is tempting to spend countless hours on mindless stuff that could never benefit us. Minute by minute, hour by hour until it sums up to years. Little did we know, we've invested too much of something with empty gains. I myself am guilty of that. But as long as we live, there are still second chances. ;)
How are you spending your time my friends? I hope it's something worthwhile.
