Last August, Gideon and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary at Cancun, Mexico. I'm sure some of you have already read my previous posts about it. I've also written a post : 3 Life Lessons I've Learned from 3 Years of Marriage, you might want to check it out too. ;) Here I'll be sharing tips and recommendations for your future travel plans to Cancun, Mexico.
WHERE TO STAY
Looking for a place to stay at Cancun, Mexico can be an overwhelming process because there are lots, I mean a plethora, of beautiful choices to choose from. Gideon decided to simplify the whole thing by booking an Airline + Hotel + Tour package from Marriott International. We've stayed at JW Marriott Cancun for 4 days and 3 nights and we had an amazing experience with them. You might want to check the review I did on JW Marriott Cancun from this link.
- CasaMagna Marriott Cancun - This resort is slightly affordable by $20 per night as compared to JW Marriott Cancun. There is a passageway connecting these two resorts (CasaMagna Marriott Cancun and JW Marriott Cancun) which means you can enjoy both facilities and you have a wide selection of food choices. By the way, food is awesome!
- Hard Rock Hotel Cancun - If you are looking for an all-inclusive option then you might consider looking at the Hard Rock Hotel. I've read many great reviews about them especially if you're going as a group. What is an all-inclusive resort?
An all-inclusive resort is a holiday resort that includes a minimum of three meals daily, soft drinks, most alcoholic drinks, gratuities, and possibly other services in the price. Many also offer sports and non-motorized watersports and other activities that are included in the price as well. - Krystal Cancun - If you're looking for a more affordable option but still beachfront then you might want to check out this resort. If you can, make sure to stay in a resort that is located in front of the beach because you don't want to miss the pristine white sands, turquoise waters and gorgeous beaches Cancun, Mexico offers.
WHAT TO DO
Other than resting in your cabana's, swimming at the turquoise beach waters and sipping your fresh coconut juice, you don't want to miss out on other activities this beautiful place offers.
- Take a tour to Chichen Itza, swim in a cenote and be amazed by the historical grandeur of the Mayan civilization - We book a tour via our resort with Yalku Tours. I love our tour guide, Pablo, and our driver, Orlando. Both of them can speak English very well. Pablo is well versed in the history of the Mayans as well as with our ancient ancestors. I love ancient history! Being with a tour guide that takes these things very seriously is something that I truly appreciate. If you're looking for a tour service on your future travel plans to Cancun, Mexico you might want to consider looking at Yalku Tours because their service is amazing and you will surely be taken care of. Value for money. For more of our, Yucatan Peninsula Tour check out my previous post: Yucatan Peninsula Day Tour: Mayan Ruins & Cenote.
- Shopping. Gideon and I checked out La Isla Shopping Village during our free time to buy souvenirs. It's very convenient to go from one place to another because Cancun has an efficient bus system to go around. We paid $1 dollar each one-way-fare to get there. If you got more free time why don't you explore some more?
- Food. I wish I could tell you where the best authentic restaurants in Cancun are. Most of our meals are consumed at the resort but I can guarantee you that food is amazing. We were able to eat an authentic meal during our whole day tour at the Yucatan Peninsula and we love it so much that I couldn't count the number of times we came back to get more.
- Visit the Xcaret Park. The nature-based attractions of the park include a river that goes through the Mayan village, a subterranean concrete sluice in which people can swim and snorkel with a life vest. Near the inlet, there are recreational activities at the beach, snorkeling, Sea Trek and Snuba in the nearby reefs, or swimming with dolphins. The park also has a coral reef aquarium turtle nesting site. Next to the inlet, there’s an area for manatees. The park also has a bird pavilion, butterfly pavilion, bat cave, orchids and bromeliad greenhouse, an island of jaguars, and a deer shelter, among others.
- Go Whale Shark Swimming. Ah, there are so many fun things to do!
