Thy inner self is jumping up and down and shouting like crazy, "Is this really happening? This is unreal!" Excuse me for fangirling but, you see, this is the first time in my entire existence to have witnessed beautiful fall foliage. And oh, add in a majestic waterfall in the picture and the scene is perfect for romance to bloom! Haha. Yep, this place is real, it's called Montmorency Falls in Quebec City. Scroll down to find out more!
Montmorency Falls
The Montmorency Falls (French: Chute Montmorency) is a large waterfall on the Montmorency River in Quebec, Canada. [source] It is higher than Niagara Falls. This waterfall is hard to miss. I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't include this in our initial 5 Day Quebec + Montreal travel itinerary. Why go to another waterfall when we've just beheld the majestic Niagara Falls?
I had to change my mind when we caught a glimpse of it from the highway on our way to Baie-Sainte-Catherine to whale watch. "Let's go there!" our friend enthusiastically proposed. "Yeah," everyone agreed. I mean, just look at that foliage! We could have missed the awesome hues of the season had we not changed our plans.
Dreamy huh? The scenery in fall is a great backdrop for photoshoots. ;)
Hello from us!
Parking and Entrance Fee
We entered from the top, we paid $8 CAD per person. Our 2-year-old is FREE. In fact, children below 18 years old are free of charge. (I wish I'm 18 again! Lol.)
We parked near McDonald's. It's a short walking distance to the entrance at the top of the falls, and we didn't pay a single dime for parking. We happen to pass by an area with ample parking space at the top but you'll have to walk a little further. You can also park at the base but there's a fee. More info here.
Activities
Fun activities await you in the area: dine, zipline, trails, gift shop, cable car ride to the base and back or simply take the stairs to burn that stubborn belly fat. (I'd do this if I'm wearing my running shoes. Nah, this is just an excuse!) Check the rates here.
Awwww, too cute!
We didn't stay long at Montmorency Falls: we took photos, walk at the suspension bridge -- and that's it! Nope, we didn't do any of the activities mentioned above. Can you believe we only allotted a couple of hours here? It's not enough!
Our next stop is Old Quebec City. We have to go! I can't wait to see Cinderella's castle, I mean, the most photographed hotel in the world. See it here!
