Things to Do/Places to See in Quebec

"It's cold!" Fall weather in Canada feels like Winter weather in Austin, TX. Well, we are far out north this time. Hugging my coat close to my body, my small frame is buried under thick layers of clothing. The cold fall air pleasantly stroked against thy face, "Are we still in North America?" I had to make ask else the North Star deceived us. Haha. I can't deny Old Quebec's European charm. It's so gorgeous!

If you're planning to visit soon or in the near future, here I've listed the 'Things to Do/Places to See in Quebec. Scroll down.

Visit the Most Photographed Hotel in the Word: Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

Don't be fooled, what you're seeing in the photo below is no Cinderella's castle. Although I'd have to admit, walking along Dufferin Terrace feels like transported to fairytale land.

Underneath the terrace is the archeological remains of Saint Louis Forts & Chateau Saint-Louis where the French and British governors of a bygone era once reside. You can buy tickets from the boardwalk to view the relics below.

Walk further along Dufferin Terrace and climb up the Plains of Abraham to get a better view of the area. Vividly remembering the picture in my mind, it's dreamlike! (Wanna see the view? Click here.) This, I'm sure. Once you get there, you won't stop clicking that camera. Haha. Well, I wouldn't wonder about it, Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac is labeled the most photographed hotel in the world after all.

Whale Watching in Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park

The best season to whale watch is from late June to early September. We came in mid-October but the whales remain active. We get to observe the whales (belugas, minkes, fins, humpbacks), and grey seals. Oh, lest I forgot, isn't that view (first photo below) wonderful? The drive from Quebec City to Baie-Sainte-Catherine took 3 hours, but gosh, that beautiful fall foliage took the weariness out of us. Nice, right? Want to see/know more? Check here.

Take a stroll at Montmorency Falls

We happen to pass by Montmorency Falls on the way to Whale Watch. The foliage is amazing in fall, a great backdrop for photoshoots. There are other fun activities to do there as well like zip line, cable car ride, trails, shopping, and dining. Photos here.

Shop at Quartier Petit Champlain

Unfortunately, we weren't able to come here. It would have been lovely to get lost in thought at the most beautiful site in Old Quebec. Make sure to make time when you visit the area.

Buy art or have yourself sketched at Rue du Tresor.

This is the reason why we weren't able to do much sightseeing in Old Quebec during our visit. We had our 2-year-old sketched by Sir Marc at Rue du Tresor. The job happened on the spot for about 2-3 hours. We paid $70 CAD. I'd definitely recommend it. If you want to do this, plan ahead!

Do a Walking Tour of Old Quebec

Old Quebec is beautiful! It is the birthplace of French North America. You'll get to bask in the old town's European charm while strolling its quarters. (Nope, I haven't been to Europe but this is how it felt like.) The place has over 400 years of history and is a UNESCO World Heritage treasure. It is the only fortified city north of Mexico. Scroll down and take a photo tour of where we've been.

Here's a Parking Tip: Park at Stationnement d’Youville. The parking fee is $12 CAD for 12 hours.
