The Lost Secret by Monica Main | Book Review

What if I tell you there are 2 unpublished chapters in Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill?
It's been told in The Lost Secret that the editor or publisher of The Ralston Society (now defunct), who first published Think and Grow Rich in the 1930s, decided to delete chapters 16 and 17 from the original manuscript.

No explanation was given as to why. You could actually verify this by adding up the number of chapters in Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I assure you, you'll end up with 15.
If these 2 unpublished chapters are the real deal, we could only speculate the reasoning behind why these were left out by the editor or publisher at that time.

In The Lost Secret: Unlocking the Hidden Chapters of Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich by Monica Main, you'll be presented with these 2 lost chapters.

Now, I won't convince you to believe that these are indeed part of the original, you'll have to decide that by yourself.

A Little Chit Chat

It's rather interesting how the author got a hold of these 2 lost chapters -- almost magical. She happened to meet a man whose stepfather worked at the Ralston Society at that time!

As to why the man entrusted this lost secret to the author could be because in their conversation she mentioned owning her own publishing company.

I must say it's a huge responsibility deciding what to do with it once she received it in the mail. What Napoleon Hill did in Think and Grow Rich is revolutionary! It's a huge shoe to fill!

Claiming to have acquired 2 unpublished chapters from the original manuscript is a risk because your reputation is on the line.

I wonder why the man waited for so long for it to be published? But what if they are indeed the lost chapters?

The Lost Secret

I know this is what you've been itching for. Here they are brief summaries of what is talked about in these lost chapters.

Chapter 16: Transcending Above the Common man.

This chapter talks about completely cutting yourself off from people with negative thinking. Here's an excerpt from the chapter.

"Those around you of lowly thinking will grapple to permanently handicap your conscious thinking toward the promise of abundance and prosperity.

It then becomes an arduous task of carrying out the thirteen principles (from Think and Grow Rich) while exhausting energy to ward off the tawdry cackling of negativity and constant criticism of your goals."

Chapter 17: Summoning Desires Through the Ether

Here's an excerpt from the Lost Secret for this chapter.

"All things are made of the finest of particles, those that are unseen and intangible. And it is within these finite particles of which all things are created, especially those that are hidden to the human eye.

It would seem that these fine particles exist by only the ‘thought’ of its source or Infinite Intelligence. If it is the ‘thought’ of Infinite Intelligence that magnetizes the smallest of particles together from a void of nothing, then we can assume to have the same ability to use our thoughts to “think” fine particles together to form the “thing” of our desires.

To do this would require an unwavering FAITH of which not a single doubt can exist to “think” these fine particles into any configuration of our liking."

5 Nuggets from the Book

Here are 5 of my top gleanings from the book.

  • Many people don’t have a wisp of an idea of what they really want out of life and wonder why they don’t have the life they want. The reason you don’t know exactly what you want is probably that you’re allowing others to influence you, or even dictate what you do and do not want. Your head is foggy with everybody else’s ideas and plans about how you should live your life and what you should be doing.
  • There is a difference between WISHING for a thing and being READY to receive it. No one is ready for a thing until he believes he can acquire it. The state of mind must be BELIEF, not mere hope or wish.
  • Until you understand that you have self-defeating, subconscious beliefs steering your ship—and then correct them—they’ll continue to send you off course. Once your subconscious mind gets a grip, it will only collect information to support its belief, no matter how nonsensical. It will toss away any other evidence—even verifiable facts.
  • Persistence is the direct result of habit. The mind absorbs and becomes a part of the daily experiences upon which it feeds. Fear, the worst of all enemies, can be effectively cured by forced repetition of acts of courage.
  • No matter how traumatic any situation or circumstance was in your past, you’re sitting here now, in a brand-new moment. You can choose to take this new moment to capture your personal power, grab the reins of your life, and steer yourself in the right direction. It is very much a conscious choice on your part, and you have nobody to blame but yourself if you choose to keep playing that old pity-party tune of hurt, anguish, and despair.

The Lost Secret Book Review

If you've mastered the 13 principles of Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, you could immediately head to chapters 16 and 17 for the lost chapters.

For the first 15 chapters of the Lost Secret, the author shared her personal story, how she acquired the lost chapters as well as a summary of the 13 principles from Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich.
It was a long read but interesting nonetheless.

Rating: 4/5

In Conclusion

Whether the author believes these 2 chapters are the real deal or not doesn't matter. It's up to you, the reader, to decide on that!
