My fingers felt numb. Is it really? Or did my mind play tricks on me?
"Where's the building again?" I keep on asking the husband every few steps to make sure we had the right location to the Senate of Canada Building.
Brrr! Looking down at my hands, I surveyed the material of the gloves I'm wearing, "Hmm... it's silky, not too thick and not too thin." "This won't do. I need a new pair."
Fives minutes out in the cold and I presumed the blood circulating inside my body would freeze. (Actually, it won't! I'm obviously practicing my piece to win an Oscar here. lol)
How could these ladies, navigating the same street as us, could wear rubber shoes and leggings in this kind of weather? They're so amazing!
The hubby, who is immune to my exaggerated reactions, patiently responds: "It's that building, located directly across the street from the Fairmont Château Laurier Hotel."
"Yes, we're almost there!"
After our e-tickets were scanned, we were ushered to the security checking area. The next room is the cloakroom where you could hang your coat and leave items not needed indoors.
Ah, I feel alive! Thank God for the warmth.
Wow, what exquisite architecture! Look at the portrait of the queen. She's elegant!
Here's a Fact
Wonder why the queen is there? Though Canada is an independent country, Britain's Queen Elizabeth remains the nation's head of state. The Queen does not play an active role in Canadian politics, and her powers are mostly symbolic. [source]
Click! Click! Click! I'm glad we came in early.
Thank God, our little boy is enjoying the wait before the tour. He's strengthening those cute little legs of his at the stairs. But daddy isn't too happy with the idea. Nah, he'll be fine, it's beneficial for him to exercise a little too.
About the Senate of Canada Building
Originally built as Ottawa’s train station in 1912, this building later became the Government Conference Centre. It was rehabilitated to temporarily house the Senate in part due to its convenient location, one block away from Parliament Hill.
We booked the tour a week early to secure our spot. The best part? It's FREE. Yes, you read that right. The tour to the Senate of Canada Building is FREE!
This is what I like about Canada, you get FREE ADMISSION at the museums on certain times, just like what we did on our visit to the Canadian's Children Museum and the Canadian Museum of Nature, and you also get to tour the government buildings for FREE.
Awesome right? Thanks, Canada!

Magnificent eh!
Where do those stairs lead to? As mentioned above this building is originally built as a train station. Those stairs lead to the train station entrance below.
This is fun! Stepping on the snow is surprisingly nice. It's like stepping on fine sugar.
Aye, our little toddler is enjoying this while I can't wait to get inside somewhere warm again. I hate my gloves, it's not keeping me warm. No, it seems like I'm not wearing anything on my hands.
Oh, well! I guess I'll have to keep myself warm by other means like sipping a hot chocolate drink at a nearby coffee shop. Hmm... the cocoa is reaching my nose!
There you go, friend. I hope you had fun doing the photo tour with us at the Senate of Canada Building. Schedule your tour here.
