It’s been a while since I did product reviews on the blog, but wait no more! It’s finally here.
See, I love to try out new, affordable, drug-store products for the benefit of my readers. I was in the beauty aisle at Walmart scouring for my old favorite time from St Ives called the St. Ives Renewing Collagen and Elastin Moisturizer, at the same time, perusing all the other beauty products displayed on the racks.
Sadly, I didn’t find what I was looking for. Wait, what?
The specified beauty item is my go-to moisturizer. Although I’m not especially keen on the packaging for hygienic reasons, it does the job every time! Plus, it’s affordable at $5 USD per tub. My budget-savvy pocket approves.
Pros
Cons
Not the watermelon, but I will give the other one, the St. Ives Avocado Hydrating Face Moisturizer, the benefit of the doubt since I love St. Ives products and it’s affordable. I’d give it a try first before coming to a conclusion.

Unable to find what I was looking for, questions raced through my mind. “What happened to my old-time favorite, reliable moisturizer? Did the brand discontinue that formula?” At the same time, two answers gape glaringly at my face. One is the St. Ives Watermelon Glowing Oil-Free Face Moisturizer. The other is called the St. Ives Avocado Hydrating Face Moisturizer.
I’m a little disappointed. For the same price point, my beloved 10 oz tub is replaced with a smaller 1.8 oz chic-looking product. Why St. Ives? Why?
I have to move on and hurry up because my 3-year-old is starting to get impatient. “Coming!”
From the two, I picked up the watermelon since it promised a lightweight and oil-free formula. Here’s what I thought.

Product Review
Hello, daily glow! Made with 100% natural watermelon juice, our lightweight, oil-free face moisturizer refreshes and hydrates for soft, glowing skin on the daily. Perfect for combination to oily skin.~ St. Ives
Pros
- Though, a bit disappointed that my 10z tub is replaced with 1.8 oz for the same price point, $5 USD per tub is still on the affordable side.
- Light-weight formula.
- Smells nice. This may be off-putting to some ladies but I’m fine with it. It isn’t too strong. (This is coming from someone who doesn’t like to wear perfume because it gave me a headache and runny nose.)
- Chic and travel-friendly packaging.
Cons
- My skin doesn’t absorb this product well. It settles on top of my skin which felt like a dewy thin film.
- I have combination skin and I don’t break out as much, however, this product does. It gave me pimples on the lower part of my face, cheeks, as well as on my neck (yes, moisturize your neck too), which didn’t give me the soft, glowy, well-hydrated skin as promised.
Will I be buying this again?

Will I recommend this product?
Not if you have sensitive skin and hate scents. If you don’t break out as much and like to experiment with the latest formulas, then why don’t you give it a try?
